Linda: In Her Own Words

"I started Grace Outreach in September 2010. I was scared to come to Grace Outreach because I haven’t been to school in a long time. When I was in school my teachers and my parents told me I wasn’t a good student and that I was lazy. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with dyslexia. When I learned I was dyslexic I was happy, because until I learned I was dyslexic I felt I was stupid.
On February 7th I took the GED exam. The morning I woke up to take my test I was nervous, but I knew I was prepared. While I was taking the test I thought to myself I’m going to pass. A lot of the questions were really easy. I could hear my teachers telling me “read the passage carefully, don’t put your own ideas in the passage.”
When I got my results online it only said “fail notice” and I was crushed. Later when I received my transcript I felt like I was on cloud 9. I received a 2280! I failed the math section by one question. I am very proud of myself for scoring a 520 on Reading. I’m coming back to Grace Outreach to take only math. I know’ I’m going to pass. After I pass my GED I’m going to go to a Computer Technician Training Program. My advice to other women is to believe in themselves and put their all and they’ll receive more than what they’ve dreamed of. Grace Outreach represents friendship, understanding, respect and confidence. I love Grace Outreach."
